How We Met

Shan and I/Candace met on Facebook in 2016.
We had always been friends or followed each other on Facebook for as long as I can remember, but we never really interacted with one another outside of Facebook, unless it was to make a comment on one of our posts. His posts were always on the more controversial side, and I thought he was nuts! Turns out I was right! Haha! One day Shan slid into my dm's, (ha-ha) asking if we could meet up so that he could gift me with something he had made my dad and I for our lawncare business.
He had noticed that we were driving around Berea with only one car magnet on our vehicle, looking a little off brand, and he took it upon himself out of the kindness of his heart, to design, and print up a set of new matching car magnets to help us better advertise our business. He wanted us to have a more professional cohesive look. So, I said Absolutely Yes! And we met at The Circle K in Berea on Front Street so that he could give me the magnets.
When he got out of his car, I thought to myself, oh boy, he's tall, and pretty cute, Then I said to myself, hmmmm,
He gave me the magnets; I loved them immediately. I said thank you very much, and that I appreciated his loving gesture.

After that, we went about our days as usual.
Our first encounter was pretty short and to the point, but nonetheless, it left an impression on me and my dad, and apparently him as well.

I was so happy and grateful that he saw a need and addressed it accordingly.
It really touched me to know that he cared about our appearance as a black owned business and wanted us to look better while serving our community, also it made my dad so happy and proud, he loved them as well.

It was like Shan knew the quick way to get my attention at first, and then soon after, my heart.

Later on, that day after I received the magnets, I reached back out to see if Shan had any Ganja,,,,, and as they say folks, The rest is History!!!

The Proposal

June 14, 2023, a day We will remember forever.

We were enjoying our wonderful beach vacation on Treasure Island Florida with the family, when Shan said that he wanted all of us to go to Sunset Beach to watch the sunset around 7:30pm. It's one of our favorite pastimes while vacationing so we were excited. Before we went to watch the sunset, Shan suggested that we spend a little time in the pool and hot tub at our Airbnb to relax, before we go, as we had just spent all day on a boat with the family. After we relaxed for a bit, we changed clothes and headed over to Sunset Beach, on St Pete Beach.

When we pulled up to the beach, parking was limited, and took about 10 minutes to find a spot to park. After parking was situated, we headed over to the beach to begin our sunset walk.

Nylah (his Niece) and I were walking down the beach together picking up shells, when all of a sudden, Shan walks up to me, grabs me by my hand, and spins me around to position me in front of him. As he did that, I'm looking at him like what's going on, why are you stopping me while I'm looking for shells, lol.
And then I see what's going on, He drops down to one knee in the sand, and pulls out the most beautiful diamond ring I've ever seen.
I started beaming with glee, and had the biggest smile on my face, and then, he points to a spot next to him in the sand, where he (just a few minutes prior) wrote out the words, "Will You Marry Me" and says, will you marry me,,, and of course, I said Yes, We hugged and kissed and spun around in the sand!

It was truly amazing, the most romantic proposal ever. It was extra special, and fit both of us perfectly. Being barefoot at the beach on The Gulf while the waves washed over our feet, as the sun set under the horizon for the day, with a warm breeze and the smell of salt in the air.
It was Absolute Perfection!!
Just like you see in the movies!! But better!!
Yep!!! Babe does it again!! He always does!

At that time people from all over the beach were clapping, congratulating, and cheering us on. There was even a couple who were in the water at the time, that saw what was happening, and even they joined in to celebrate with us, by dancing and clapping while in the water. It was Awesome!! Total Epic Moment for sure!!
And thankfully, we had some family there with us to capture the moment with great pics and videos!!
(Nae, Nylah, NiJelle, Lena, and Chris),
It was definitely The Surprise of a Lifetime!! Just how I always imagined it would be! He knows the way to capture my mind, my body, and my heart! And I'm so grateful for him, and this experience and super excited to become Mrs. Candace Harris!!

Here's to the Harris's
Highway to Harris baby!!!
Coming to a beach near you!!
